So after Paris we were home in Denmark for a few days.  Had a wonderful lunch with my Aunty Helga and my cousins Lene and Lotte and her daughter Carla. Ernst also joined us which was so nice.

It was such a good meal and great company!

Then we went of to a small island called Fyn.  It is where Hans Christian Anderson was born.
There we stayed with Denise (some of you might remember she is a sister we met at an assembly in  Aarhus 26 years ago.  She and her friend Jeanette came to Canada and came and stayed with us for about 10 days... we had a ball.  Then I went to Denmark a year later and stayed with her and her children, Jennifer and Jannich.)

This time around Tim was with of course and Denise got married to a wonderful man Jan in the interim, 24 years ago now.  He is this fantastic cook.  He cooked all week and put on a fantastic meal for us.  We had such a good time with them.  It was like we were related.  She feels like my fleshly sister on top of being my spiritual sister.  Jan and Tim (and me too) got on so well together.  They were instant friends and enjoyed each other thoroughly.  It was really a great time!

We also met a  very nice brother and sister Erik and Helle. Had a wonderful evening with them.  They had us into their home as well and showed us there big factory.  They make chairs of many kinds for a famous designer from Copenhagen.  It was awesome to see how they make them.  Then into the friendly home for a wonderful late` and a visit with them and their son.  Was nice, very nice.

It felt like no years had passed by for us. We took off right were we left off.  I love my sister so much!
We will now be going back in February as we just have to have one more visit.  As the scripture says  "she just made us" apply here to dear Denise (and of course to Jan).

One of my most favourite men in the world.  My heart melts every time he is with us.  He is funny, loving, good nature and did I mention FUNNY???!!!!

Then we were to drive him back to his place where he lives.  Oh that made me so sad so Denise told him to get dressed and he would spend the day with us.  That made my day!
He really is special in more ways than I could ever write about.  The last time I had seen him we seemed to have made a connection.  He was about 8 or 9 in a swim meet at his school. And he tries so hard to speak English... <3 and does well!!

This is at the Kingdom Hall.  Tim gave a talk in the English group that afternoon.  This is the morning Congregation we went to so we could meet everyone here... was very nice!

DENICE AND JAN

Then found out that Jan owned a kilt... oh man, now this was a funny event.  It had us in stitches.  We laughed so hard.  Take a look at the videos and pictures and you will see what I mean. :))

Handsome as ever! (but change those socks!)

Denise trying to fix him.  You don't sit like that in a skirt!

                                 <3 Tim <3
SO HANDSOME!  Fell in love all over again!!

love this picture.

And there is the end result.
It wasn't easy... now I will post the video lol

Then Jan had to go back to work.  He left Sunday morning.  Sad occasion.  It would have been so nice had he been with us until we left.  But as we all know, work is work and it isn't something to miss.  But we were so happy we had the week end together.

So now come's the evening of singing  HAHAHA!  We were up so late but so worth it.

Then I met a lovely sister my the name of Irene.  She has written a book and now she is being asked if she will allow them to make a movie of it... How exciting!  The following pictures are of us saying good-bye as we were leaving to go back to Grenaa.  We laughed and laughed.  These are the best of the worst for sure LOL

It was funny... whatever it was!!

Finally kind of an ok picture ( I hate this picture of me lol)  Although Denise has some that if she ever posted them would have to fear for her life  haha!

Then Irene drove Tim and I to the train in Fyn and we started our long trek back.
All in all it was very sad to leave.

Random Video's

we took quite a few video's as it seems the best way to get the feel of what we are doing.

This is when we got back home from our wonderful Paris trip.

This is the end of our walk

The following day in Grenaa.  Walked down to the Kattegat Center but it was closed.

THE CATACOMBS in PARIS

Now this might seem morbid to some people but it was so interesting to Tim and myself.

The name of ‘Catacombs’ was given to this ossuary in reference to the Catacombs of Rome, a name originally given to an ancient cemetery situated not far from the Appian Way. The Cemetery of the Innocents (near Saint-Eustache, in the area of Les Halles) had been in use for nearly ten centuries and had become a source of infection for the inhabitants of the locality. After numerous complaints, the Council of State decided, on November 9th 1785, to prohibit further use of the Cemetery of the Innocents and to remove its contents.

Disused quarries were chosen to receive the remains; the City of Paris had in fact just completed a general inspection of the quarries, in order to strengthen the public highways undermined by them. Building work was done on the “Tombe-Issoire” quarry, using large quantities of stone, strengthening the galleries and completed by digging out a staircase, flanked by a well into which the bones could be thrown.

The transfer of the remains could begin after the blessing and consecration of the site on April 7th 1786, and it continued until 1788, always at nightfall and following a ceremony whereby a procession of priests in surplices sang the service for the dead along the route taken by the carts loaded with bones, which were covered by a black veil. Then, until 1814, the site received the remains from all the cemeteries of Paris.

Since their creation, the Catacombs have aroused curiosity. In 1787, the Count d’Artois, the future Charles X, made the descent, along with Ladies of the Court.  The following year a visit from Madame de Polignac and Madame de Guiche is mentioned. In 1814, Francis I, the Emperor of Austria living victoriously in Paris, visited them. In 1860, Napoleon III went down with his son.

The Paris Catacombs re-opened on June 14th 2005, after several months of closure for building work. The lighting has been adjusted, the vaults strengthened and the walls of bones put back.

There are over 6,000,000 bodies down here.

This was the foot bath
so called as the water was so clear that you only knew it was water when you put you foot in it.

If you press on this link it will show you the full scope of the catacombs.  It is really quite interesting.

So there were over 135 stairs going down into the catacombs... I felt I could do that and I did.  Then there was a 2 km walk in the catacombs I felt I could do and I did.  But then.....  There was the small spiral stair case which consisted of 84 tight one person only at a time.... and each stair was a foot high.  Now there was no turning around!! And no one could pass you!!  It was soooooooo hard.  But the upside of this story is:  I MADE IT : )

Here's the video of me coming out of the catacombs ha!

This is video of youtube if you are interested in seeing more.

Video's and pictures by the Louvre and the Locks of Love Bridge

Once again I have been so delinquent in blogging... it is almost like writing a book.  And trying to organize my photos and the time slots etc. etc. has not been an easy task.  So if there are repeats or if it's just too boring to deal with just ignore it and carry on :)

I really wanted to post another video of the Louvre.  It is on the Locks of Love bridge.  I really loved it here. To me it was so Paris.  People were hanging their locks and kissing.  It was so sweet... we also did that.  So first the video of us first arriving and then pictures of the bridge and then a video of us placing our lock :)

There were thousands and thousands of locks on this bridge.  They say that each panel lasts about 3 months and they then fall off because of the weight of the locks.  Then they replace the panels and it starts again and again. I don't know what they do with all the locks... I don't think I want to know :(

locks and locks and locks and locks!

THIS IS OUR LOCK!!  Tim gave me this lock at home before we left from Canada.  He came up and said "Well what do you think?  Should we put this lock on the bridge in Paris?"  Here is was, a big silver lock with our names engraved on it... soooo sweet AND romantic!

So here is the video of out moment. (awe, I know :) <3 )

THE SUBWAYS... SOME OF THE BEST DAYS EVER. THIS IS PARIS!!

The subways hold a special place in my heart.
Maybe some will think I'm a bit off, and other may understand my love of it.

Here are a few of the subway video's <3

So these are a few things that will always remind me of Paris.  Maybe not the big tourist spots and maybe not what some would call the real Paris... but to me it was just as important as the museums, the towers, the arc's.  This was the people, and a few fantastic musician that have not been noticed yet. There are too many to post.  Music the universal language.  It put a beat in my heart.
