Video's and pictures by the Louvre and the Locks of Love Bridge

Once again I have been so delinquent in blogging... it is almost like writing a book.  And trying to organize my photos and the time slots etc. etc. has not been an easy task.  So if there are repeats or if it's just too boring to deal with just ignore it and carry on :)

I really wanted to post another video of the Louvre.  It is on the Locks of Love bridge.  I really loved it here. To me it was so Paris.  People were hanging their locks and kissing.  It was so sweet... we also did that.  So first the video of us first arriving and then pictures of the bridge and then a video of us placing our lock :)

There were thousands and thousands of locks on this bridge.  They say that each panel lasts about 3 months and they then fall off because of the weight of the locks.  Then they replace the panels and it starts again and again. I don't know what they do with all the locks... I don't think I want to know :(

locks and locks and locks and locks!

THIS IS OUR LOCK!!  Tim gave me this lock at home before we left from Canada.  He came up and said "Well what do you think?  Should we put this lock on the bridge in Paris?"  Here is was, a big silver lock with our names engraved on it... soooo sweet AND romantic!

So here is the video of out moment. (awe, I know :) <3 )

THE SUBWAYS... SOME OF THE BEST DAYS EVER. THIS IS PARIS!!

The subways hold a special place in my heart.
Maybe some will think I'm a bit off, and other may understand my love of it.

Here are a few of the subway video's <3

So these are a few things that will always remind me of Paris.  Maybe not the big tourist spots and maybe not what some would call the real Paris... but to me it was just as important as the museums, the towers, the arc's.  This was the people, and a few fantastic musician that have not been noticed yet. There are too many to post.  Music the universal language.  It put a beat in my heart.

I"m really not a blogger. I see from going over this I have posted pictures twice and told the same story!!

What can one say, but that an old mind afflicts us all in the end :)  I went over my blog and noticed that here I am being like my mom and also Tim's mother...  I for one am glad I was never bothered by that behaviour hee hee.  I continued to laugh and enjoy the stories as much the second and third time.

Some would argue that 58 is not really old...  It is 28 years older than a 30 year old mind I once possessed.  And I would trade for that mind again :)  In fact to be honest  I would like my 40 year old or even my 50 year old mind back!!  Just saying.

So now I will post random pictures.  And I have many video's that are either upside down, side wards or totally in the dark as I forgot to life the back off my smart phone, hmmm.

But I  might be brazen enough to post them and you can just turn your computer, ipad, iphone or what ever device you are using to view this blog.

A short video while walking.  There is so much to look at.  You feel you're constantly in a museum!!  Everything is old and beautiful.  Buildings that have stood since the 1500's!!  Some much older.

Now you have to take this video as only a fun complaint... but I'm not kidding the stairs are everywhere in Paris.  And not just a few.  But as the days went on I got better at it was good for us!!  I think my pants might be getting lose :)

VENUS DE MILO  She was unearthed in 1820 on the island of Milos.  It is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of art from antiquity.

Oh that Mona Lisa Smile.  Did you know that Leonard carry her with him everywhere until the day he sold her.  Interesting tid bit I didn't know about.

Oh so small but well worth

The head of John the Baptist.  Reminded me of what a really sad story that was!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE PHOTO'S AND WHO THEY ARE BY ECT. YOU CAN LOOK AT THIS SIGHT... IT IS A BIG JOB TO LOOK UP ALL OF THEM IN MY BOOK.  THIS IS MOSTLY TO SHOW YOU HOW ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL THE SCULPTURES AND PAINTING ARE.  I WAS IN AWE.

HERE IS A SIGHT YOU CAN LOOK AT FOR NAMES

The Musee d'Orsay

There was Musee  d'Orsay....  This was Tim's favourite museum...  I liked the Louvre.  They were actually both lovely...

You were not allowed to take pictures inside the d'Orsay (you could in the Louvre!) but we bought the book. So if you would like to come over for a French meal that I will cook and a good bottle of wine we can show you the book and talk aaaalllllll about it  hahahaha.  (totally serious on the invite!)

There  were fantastic metal sculptures outside the museum.  The experience was great from start to end :)

I loved this statue.  I need to have a horse.  I will call him Samson.

as we left in the evening.  Down by the River Seine. So beautiful.

Paris December 2013 There was the Eiffel Tower

Where to begin.  We did so many things in one week... it is impossible to do all that there is to do and see in Paris.  Good reason to go back : )

   There was the Eiffel Tower.

It is just so BIG!

This was the first thing you saw when you got off the metro... It was breath taking.  It was actually surreal.  Something you have seen all your life in books, magazine and advertisements.  then to see it for real is quite exciting.  (Pretty sure there was a bomb in some metal fabrication plant and voila there stands the Eiffel Tower :)  What wonderful talents Jehovah has given to men.

We are in Paris!!

We finally arrive in Paris!!

It is really quite surreal.  All these things you have seen on posters and pictures your whole life now stands in front of you.

First impression: Better than I expected!

The Scenery is breath taking!  I got shivers as soon as I saw the city.  It is truly a place of romance. Everything is so French!!

The woman are beautiful!!

The restaurant's are open all night.  There are theaters and opera houses everywhere.  It is really wonderfully romantic.

This is the center of the Latin Quarter.  St Michael's and St Germaine.  It caters to whatever you would like.  There must be more than 300 restaurant's in this area.  There are nick knacks on every corner.  There are places to buy shoes, clothes, food etc. etc.

This is the Kingdom Hall

We walked around in circles until we finally found it (took a bus and then walked at least 2 kms)   We came in at the start of the song.  It felt so good to be in an English group.  Really a world wide brotherhood.  The Hall is in the basement in an old building that is shared with businesses.  Very different than there.  But is was very nice and comfortable.

Then came the Eiffel Tower!!  It was more than what was expected.  We walked for miles! (my pants are getting lose lol)  I am in love with Paris!!  Tim says 'He is overwhelmed by Paris')  The history is phenomenal, there is not enough time in a day to see what you want.  Just the doors themselves are so fascinating.

This was the first thing we saw when we got off the RER C  It was surreal to say the least!  SHIVERS!

we will be going back on Saturday to go up the tower.

                                                                      So fantastic!

We came to the end of the day.  We went to the store and bought cheese, baguette's, salad and wine.  Then it was off to bed to get up early to start the next day!

On our way to Paris

It's hard to believe that we are finally off to Paris.  It seems that I have been waiting so long to see the Eifel Tower.  We are both so excited.

First stop Copenhagen.

This is out of the window from the hotel.  You can see the opera house by the water.

A closer look of the opera house.

Things that have been going on the last few days.

Well a few days have passed so I have a bunch of pictures to post.  We have been down at the beach almost everyday taking a long walk.  It is so fresh and beautiful down there.  I love it.

We have also done a few trips down to the city center.  Tim took a fishing trip with Ernst and Leif which was exciting for him.  I opted out as I get sooo sea sick.

We wandered our way to Gammel Estrup which was a Royal Manor built in the early 1300's and stayed in the same family for generations.  It still stands today with some renovations so the public can enjoy it. It has great historic furnishing, dishes, tapestry and many other items as you will view from the pictures.
It was a 3 hour affair with great conversation and dreams of some of the things Tim and I would love in our own house :)  Isn't dreaming wonderful?  There was hardly a soul around and we personally enjoyed that.  It gave us lots of time to look and laugh without hesitation.
This is a beautiful door into an apartment above a store.  I could see us living there.  The stone work is so beautiful.  As you can see it dates back to1891 and continued to be used as the original building until 1922.  Now apartments.
This is a statue outside the old jail.  It is suppose to be a man hanging his head... that is what my mom told me at one time.... I can't find any information on it... So as art is art, you may see it as something else! :)
Tim enjoy the Danish hotdogs.  The best in the world they say... they are tasty.
The red mail boxes out side the old jail wall.
On our way to another day! <3  So nice to be with my best friend!
                                                                      The Boss

                                                                         Grenaa

Now off to the beach.  Many pictures that reflect the wonderful times that we have had so far.  We are thoroughly enjoying our time away and together.

This was before the big storm that came in.  The winds were up to 135 km an hour.  The house was shaking.  A tree feel in the back over the neighbours driveway.  Tim and Ernst had to cut it up and remove first thing in the morning.  It was scary, I can't lie!  There was lots of damage in low lying area's.  England was just pummeled.

This day that we went down to the beach it was so gray.  It was like this when we woke up and it stayed the same colour until sunset.  The picture doesn't really convey the true picture.  The ocean and water and sand were almost the same colour.  It was difficult to determine where land sea and air began and ended.  It was actually kind of eery.  Then it started getting dark.  The waves were slowly coming in, the air was cold and heavy... well you get the picture; it was the making of a scary movie!

Ha!  Sooo we're strolling down the beach and what do we see??? Yes you guessed it: people swimming in the ocean.  Some were NAKED!!  Tim said he just couldn't believe how quiet they were.  He said he would be screaming loudly hahaha.

WE WILL BE TRYING THIS!!

US
It was very chilly this day.  Had to wrap up!  I had two tops on and two pairs of pants on.  A ten pound coat and a big scarf.  It was toasty.  We I got home and changed I felt so light... like I had lost 20 pounds.   I like this picture a lot.

Then end of the day at the beach. Beautiful sunset.

This is a shot of where my uncle lives year round.  A beautiful view.

Feeling the breeze. Me and my 10 pound water repellent coat.  HAPPY!!

This picture is for Holden.  It felt like an old weapon you could use for hunting in the old days.  Boy I miss my grandbabies.  And of course Amber and Luke.  Wish they were here with us!!

hehe  This was taken by my camera as I was putting it away in my pocket.  I like this picture.  It sums up the feeling of the ocean very well I thought.

Corny but love it.  We were just leaving for our ocean walk.

  Treasure!!

This was just before the storm that night.

  Oh us again,  Brother!!

Then came the fishing trip for Tim.

It was an early morning start.  Pretty harbour picture.

There was fish for supper.  I'm glad that Tim took the opportunity to try this.  He might go out again.

Then we took a wonderful day trip to Aarhus.  We took the train which is about an hour + a few minutes into the city center.  Then the walking began.  We figured about 5 km.  It was a cold day.  I under dressed (very unusual for me).  but all in all it was fantastic.  We found this store that only made Floe boller (this kind of marshmellowy filling piled HIGH on this tasty wafer and covered with different kinds of chocolate.  |faint|) Oh it was so good.  I bought six and yes, I shared them :)

this was a shot of a girl waiting for the train.  Etched tempered glass for a wind shelter.  It turned out pretty good.
Just a shot of the street we were on.

A restaurant that we passed.

I didn't really get many pictures here.  We were busy walking and getting down to the big department store Magazine.  It was so packed that we turned around.  Finally found a polse vogne (hotdog stand) to grab a quick bite and then back to the train.  We will go back again in January.

Our little jaunt to the Lighthouse
Forneus. That is probably spelled wrong.

The lighthouse

the road down to the ocean

This was the day the big storm was brewing.  The waves were wild and it was cold out. Tim was too close to the shore in my humble opinion :)

So this finishes the blogging for another day.  I will have to post the photo's of Gammel Estrup later today or this evening.  Love to you all.  Hugs to the babies that are waiting at home for our return!
